Challenge
The Off-Broadway production Chasing Grace aimed to expand its audience reach and deepen community engagement by connecting with culturally aligned audiences. However, there was an untapped opportunity to intentionally engage members of the Divine Nine and translate awareness into ticket sales for a dedicated performance night.
Strategy
I initiated a community-centered partnership between my sorority chapter and the Chasing Grace production team in collaboration with the SheNYC Arts PR team. The strategy focused on engaging Divine Nine organizations as a key audience segment by promoting a targeted ticket discount and positioning the show as a culturally resonant experience for audiences who connect with storytelling centered on Black women.
Execution
I led the development and rollout of a targeted social media campaign designed to drive awareness and conversions. This included redesigning promotional flyers into customized creative assets featuring individual Divine Nine organizations’ colors and branding aesthetics. I also created tailored Instagram Story content for each organization, incorporating clear, action-oriented messaging and directing audiences to a dedicated discount code for ticket purchases.
Results
The month-long campaign generated 3K+ views (50% higher than the production’s other promotional content) and 200+ engagements on Instagram. It also contributed to one of the highest-attended performance nights for Chasing Grace, with members from multiple Divine Nine organizations in attendance. Overall, the initiative successfully expanded audience reach, increased awareness of the discounted ticket offering, and strengthened community engagement around the production.
